Pourquoi cette variante
Choisissez-la si
Balances your priorities with a 1315€ price tag and a 37W idle draw.
Ce qu'elle sacrifie
- Not specialized: it does not push any single dimension (value, silence, expansion) to the extreme.
Comment les pièces ont été choisies
- Intel Core i7 14700: 20 cores / 28 threads covers the 8 cores needed with headroom. (2.5× needed — chosen for low noise / efficiency)
- Motherboard Intel B760 (LGA 1700): matches the CPU socket and case size.
- RAM: 64GB DDR5,DDR4 — meets the 64GB the workload requires.
Pourquoi pas les autres
- All variants are close; the winner matches your priorities best.

Score de pérennité
Pérennité solide83/100
Strong future-proofing (83/100) — this build should stay relevant for years without major surgery.
Upgrade path75
DIY build — the CPU, motherboard and PSU can each be upgraded independently without replacing the whole system.
Expansion100
Expansion headroom: 3 PCIe slot(s), 6 M.2, 4 SATA, 2 drive bay(s), 2 RAM slot(s) free.
Storage growth90
Storage is 45% utilized with 2 free drive bay(s) and 4 free SATA port(s).
Memory growth75
2 RAM slot(s) free; memory is 100% utilized.
Networking80
Networking is 2500 Mbps, and a free PCIe slot can add a faster NIC later.
Replacement ease90
ATX form factor with standard, socketed components — most parts are easy to replace.
Workload change70
No GPU, but there is room (3 PCIe slot(s), PSU headroom 4.8x) to add one for AI/transcoding.
Score de risque homelab
Risque modéré37/100
Moderate risk (37/100) — a few items are worth fixing before you commit (see checklist).
critical
Single point of failure
All data sits on a single drive with no redundancy — one failure means total loss.Solution: Add at least a mirror (RAID 1/ZFS mirror) for irreplaceable data, or an additional parity drive for larger arrays.
low
Storage risk
Solid-state storage — no moving parts, low mechanical failure risk.Solution: For an always-on system, prefer NAS/CMR-rated drives; monitor SMART and replace before the warranty ends.
high
Data loss risk
1 drive(s) with no redundancy — a single SSD/controller failure can still lose data.Solution: Add redundancy and an off-site/off-box backup for anything irreplaceable.
low
Power risk
PSU is 500W, peak load 104W (21%).Solution: PSU sizing leaves healthy headroom for spikes and future parts.
low
Network risk
Single 2500 Mbps NIC — a switch/port failure takes the box fully offline, and multi-user media can saturate 2500 Mbps.Solution: Consider a second NIC or a managed switch; for heavy media, plan for 2.5/10G before the build.
low
Expansion risk
3 PCIe, 6 M.2, 4 SATA, 2 bays free.Solution: Healthy room for future drives, NICs and accelerators.
low
Upgrade risk
2024 platform — current generation with a forward-looking socket/feature set.Solution: Buy for the workload, not the socket — upgrade paths are a bonus, not a guarantee.

No storage redundancy

Critique
RAM is nearly exhausted
The workload needs 100% of available RAM — swapping will hurt.Action: Add more RAM now, while slots are still free.memory
Optionnel
Keep a backup off-box
Redundancy inside the box does not survive fire, theft or a whole-array fault.Action: Mirror the important data to an external drive, a second box, or cloud.storage

RAM expansion available

Ce qui devient la limite
RAM is tight is the most likely thing to date this build within 1-2y.
1-2y
RAM is tight
Pourquoi: Memory is 100% utilized — a growing workload will hit the ceiling quickly.Que faire: Add the remaining RAM before prices change, while slots are free.
Ce qui vous limitera d'abord
RAM is the closest to its limit (100% of capacity in use) — it will likely force the next upgrade.
