Porquê esta variante
Escolha-a se
Balances your priorities with a 1641€ price tag and a 38W idle draw.
O que sacrifica
- Not specialized: it does not push any single dimension (value, silence, expansion) to the extreme.
Como as peças foram escolhidas
- Intel Core i5 14400F: 10 cores / 16 threads covers the 9 cores needed with headroom.
- Motherboard Intel Z790 (LGA 1700): matches the CPU socket and case size.
- RAM: 32GB DDR5,DDR4 — meets the 32GB the workload requires.
Porque não as outras
- Smart build — best all-round beats "Value build — most for your money" on expandability +12, silence +23 — that is why it is recommended for your priorities.
- Smart build — best all-round beats "Long-term build — expandable & future-proof" on performance -22, efficiency +10, expandability +7, longevity -11 — that is why it is recommended for your priorities.

Check the balance
This build may struggle with the stated workload.
Crítico
CPU close to the limit
The workload uses 90% of the CPU — little headroom for background tasks or growth.
Crítico
RAM is nearly exhausted
The workload needs 100% of available RAM — swapping will hurt.

Pontuação de prova de futuro
Prova de futuro forte82/100
Strong future-proofing (82/100) — this build should stay relevant for years without major surgery.
Upgrade path75
DIY build — the CPU, motherboard and PSU can each be upgraded independently without replacing the whole system.
Expansion100
Expansion headroom: 1 PCIe slot(s), 9 M.2, 3 SATA, 2 drive bay(s), 2 RAM slot(s) free.
Storage growth70
Storage is 100% utilized with 2 free drive bay(s) and 3 free SATA port(s).
Memory growth75
2 RAM slot(s) free; memory is 100% utilized.
Networking95
Networking is 10000 Mbps, and a free PCIe slot can add a faster NIC later.
Replacement ease90
ATX form factor with standard, socketed components — most parts are easy to replace.
Workload change70
No GPU, but there is room (1 PCIe slot(s), PSU headroom 8.3x) to add one for AI/transcoding.
Homelab Risk Score
Risco baixo10/100
Low risk (10/100) — sensible redundancy and headroom; no single point of failure is exposed.
low
Single point of failure
Storage has redundancy (parity1) — a single drive failure does not take the array down.Solução: Continue a 3-2-1 backup strategy; redundancy is not a backup.
low
Storage risk
5 NAS-rated hard drive(s) — rated for 24/7 operation.Solução: Keep drives cool and monitor SMART health.
low
Data loss risk
Redundancy protects against drive failure, though it is not a substitute for backups.Solução: Follow a 3-2-1 backup rule: at least one copy off the box.
low
Power risk
PSU is 1000W, peak load 120W (12%).Solução: PSU sizing leaves healthy headroom for spikes and future parts.
low
Network risk
Single 10000 Mbps NIC — a switch/port failure takes the box fully offline, and multi-user media can saturate 10000 Mbps.Solução: Consider a second NIC or a managed switch; for heavy media, plan for 2.5/10G before the build.
low
Expansion risk
1 PCIe, 9 M.2, 3 SATA, 2 bays free.Solução: Healthy room for future drives, NICs and accelerators.
low
Upgrade risk
2024 platform — current generation with a forward-looking socket/feature set.Solução: Buy for the workload, not the socket — upgrade paths are a bonus, not a guarantee.

Crítico
Check the balance
This build may struggle with the stated workload.Ação: Reconsider the config for the stated workload or budget before buying.balance
Crítico
CPU close to the limit
The workload uses 90% of the CPU — little headroom for background tasks or growth.Ação: Consider a stronger CPU or drop a secondary workload.compute
Crítico
RAM is nearly exhausted
The workload needs 100% of available RAM — swapping will hurt.Ação: Add more RAM now, while slots are still free.memory
Opcional
Add a UPS
An always-on server holding data should survive power blips.Ação: Add a line-interactive UPS sized for the build's peak draw (≥ 10 min at typical load for a clean shutdown).power
Opcional
Keep a backup off-box
Redundancy inside the box does not survive fire, theft or a whole-array fault.Ação: Mirror the important data to an external drive, a second box, or cloud.storage
Futuro
RAM expansion available
2 RAM slot(s) free for a later upgrade.Ação: Leave them free until the workload actually grows.memory
Futuro
Drive bays remain
2 drive bay(s) free for future capacity.Ação: Expand capacity in pairs (mirror/parity) when needed.storage
Futuro
PCIe slot available
1 free PCIe slot(s) for a NIC, HBA or GPU later.Ação: Use it for a 10G NIC, extra HBA, or an accelerator when the need appears.expansion
O que se torna o limite
RAM is tight is the most likely thing to date this build within 1-2y.
1-2y
RAM is tight
Porquê: Memory is 100% utilized — a growing workload will hit the ceiling quickly.O que fazer: Add the remaining RAM before prices change, while slots are free.
1-2y
Storage nearly full
Porquê: 100% of raw capacity is already in use — media libraries and backups grow fast.O que fazer: Expanding is easy: add a drive to the free bays/ports.
1-2y
CPU is the next bottleneck
Porquê: The CPU runs at 90% of capacity — new services or more users will hit the wall first.O que fazer: Consider a stronger CPU within the same socket generation while it is still cheap.
O que o limita primeiro
RAM is the closest to its limit (100% of capacity in use) — it will likely force the next upgrade.
