Miksi tämä vaihtoehto

Valitse se, jos

Balances your priorities with a 2471€ price tag and a 39W idle draw.

Mistä se tinkii

Not specialized: it does not push any single dimension (value, silence, expansion) to the extreme.

Miten osat valittiin

Intel Core i7 14700: 20 cores / 28 threads covers the 12 cores needed with headroom.
Motherboard Intel B760 (LGA 1700): matches the CPU socket and case size.
RAM: 32GB DDR5,DDR4 — meets the 32GB the workload requires.

Miksi eivät muut

Smart build — best all-round beats "Value build — most for your money" on performance +13, value -9, efficiency +7, expandability +20, silence +23 — that is why it is recommended for your priorities.

Tulevaisuudenkestävyyspisteet

Vahva tulevaisuudenkestävyys

82/100

Strong future-proofing (82/100) — this build should stay relevant for years without major surgery.

Upgrade path75

DIY build — the CPU, motherboard and PSU can each be upgraded independently without replacing the whole system.

Expansion100

Expansion headroom: 2 PCIe slot(s), 6 M.2, 2 SATA, 0 drive bay(s), 2 RAM slot(s) free.

Storage growth70

Storage is 74% utilized with 0 free drive bay(s) and 2 free SATA port(s).

Memory growth75

2 RAM slot(s) free; memory is 100% utilized.

Networking80

Networking is 2500 Mbps, and a free PCIe slot can add a faster NIC later.

Replacement ease90

ATX form factor with standard, socketed components — most parts are easy to replace.

Workload change85

A 16GB GPU is present — AI and transcoding workloads are covered.

Homelab Risk Score

Matala riski

10/100

Low risk (10/100) — sensible redundancy and headroom; no single point of failure is exposed.

low

Single point of failure

Storage has redundancy (mirror) — a single drive failure does not take the array down.Ratkaisu: Continue a 3-2-1 backup strategy; redundancy is not a backup.

low

Storage risk

2 NAS-rated hard drive(s) — rated for 24/7 operation.Ratkaisu: Keep drives cool and monitor SMART health.

low

Data loss risk

Redundancy protects against drive failure, though it is not a substitute for backups.Ratkaisu: Follow a 3-2-1 backup rule: at least one copy off the box.

low

Power risk

PSU is 500W, peak load 175W (35%).Ratkaisu: PSU sizing leaves healthy headroom for spikes and future parts.

low

Network risk

Single 2500 Mbps NIC — a switch/port failure takes the box fully offline, and multi-user media can saturate 2500 Mbps.Ratkaisu: Consider a second NIC or a managed switch; for heavy media, plan for 2.5/10G before the build.

low

Expansion risk

2 PCIe, 6 M.2, 2 SATA, 0 bays free.Ratkaisu: Healthy room for future drives, NICs and accelerators.

low

Upgrade risk

2024 platform — current generation with a forward-looking socket/feature set.Ratkaisu: Buy for the workload, not the socket — upgrade paths are a bonus, not a guarantee.

Buildin lopullinen tarkistus

Audit passed (0 critical, 0 warning) — mostly optional and future considerations remain.

Valinnainen

Add a UPS

An always-on server holding data should survive power blips.Toimenpide: Add a line-interactive UPS sized for the build's peak draw (≥ 10 min at typical load for a clean shutdown).power

Valinnainen

Keep a backup off-box

Redundancy inside the box does not survive fire, theft or a whole-array fault.Toimenpide: Mirror the important data to an external drive, a second box, or cloud.storage

Tulevaisuus

RAM expansion available

2 RAM slot(s) free for a later upgrade.Toimenpide: Leave them free until the workload actually grows.memory

Tulevaisuus

PCIe slot available

2 free PCIe slot(s) for a NIC, HBA or GPU later.Toimenpide: Use it for a 10G NIC, extra HBA, or an accelerator when the need appears.expansion

Mikä muuttuu rajaksi

RAM is tight is the most likely thing to date this build within 1-2y.

1-2y

RAM is tight

Miksi: Memory is 100% utilized — a growing workload will hit the ceiling quickly.Mitä tehdä: Add the remaining RAM before prices change, while slots are free.

3-5y

Storage growing

Miksi: 74% of capacity in use — comfortable today, tighter over a few years.Mitä tehdä: Plan the growth curve; keep at least one bay free for the next drive.
