Miksi tämä vaihtoehto

Valitse se, jos

Balances your priorities with a 415€ price tag and a 7W idle draw.

Mistä se tinkii

Not specialized: it does not push any single dimension (value, silence, expansion) to the extreme.

Miten osat valittiin

GEEKOM A5 — AMD Ryzen 5 7430U: 12 threads, 16GB RAM, 7W idle — a complete, efficient prebuilt for this workload.
Turnkey: no assembly, smaller footprint, lower energy than a custom build.

Miksi eivät muut

Smart build — best all-round beats "Build yourself — for comparison" on performance +26, efficiency +13, expandability -48, silence +17, longevity +25 — that is why it is recommended for your priorities.

Varoitus

Potentially overkill

The build exceeds what the workload needs; extra capacity sits idle.

Tulevaisuudenkestävyyspisteet

Rajoitettu tulevaisuudenkestävyys

42/100

Limited future-proofing (42/100) — expect to upgrade or rebuild sooner rather than later.

Upgrade path40

Prebuilt platform — the CPU/motherboard are not swappable in the usual sense, so the upgrade path is limited to RAM/storage/PCIe.

Expansion34

Expansion headroom: 0 PCIe slot(s), 1 M.2, 1 SATA, 1 drive bay(s), 1 RAM slot(s) free.

Storage growth50

Storage is 39% utilized with 1 free drive bay(s) and 1 free SATA port(s).

Memory growth55

1 RAM slot(s) free; memory is 8% utilized.

Networking55

Networking is 1000 Mbps.

Replacement ease30

Prebuilt — proprietary parts can make replacement harder.

Workload change30

No GPU and little room to add one — demanding AI/transcoding workloads would be out of reach.

Homelab Risk Score

Kohtalainen riski

40/100

Moderate risk (40/100) — a few items are worth fixing before you commit (see checklist).

critical

Single point of failure

Storage has no redundancy (0 drives, no mirror/parity) — a single drive failure exposes the array.Ratkaisu: Add at least a mirror (RAID 1/ZFS mirror) for irreplaceable data, or an additional parity drive for larger arrays.

low

Storage risk

Solid-state storage — no moving parts, low mechanical failure risk.Ratkaisu: For an always-on system, prefer NAS/CMR-rated drives; monitor SMART and replace before the warranty ends.

low

Data loss risk

No significant data stored — low exposure.Ratkaisu: Add redundancy and an off-site/off-box backup for anything irreplaceable.

critical

Power risk

No PSU detected in the configuration.Ratkaisu: Add a PSU sized at ~1.5x the peak load for efficiency headroom.

medium

Network risk

Single 1000 Mbps NIC — a switch/port failure takes the box fully offline, and multi-user media can saturate 1000 Mbps.Ratkaisu: Consider a second NIC or a managed switch; for heavy media, plan for 2.5/10G before the build.

low

Expansion risk

0 PCIe, 1 M.2, 1 SATA, 1 bays free.Ratkaisu: Healthy room for future drives, NICs and accelerators.

low

Upgrade risk

Prebuilt platform — the next CPU generation will almost certainly require a new system.Ratkaisu: Buy for the workload, not the socket — upgrade paths are a bonus, not a guarantee.

Buildin lopullinen tarkistus

Audit found 0 critical and 1 warning item(s) worth fixing before you buy.

Varoitus

Potentially overkill

The build exceeds what the workload needs; extra capacity sits idle.Toimenpide: Check the value variant — it may cover the workload for less.balance

Optimointi

Plan faster networking

1G networking is fine today but will bottleneck multi-user media or big NAS transfers at 0.2TB.Toimenpide: Budget for a 2.5G/10G NIC and switch later, or spec it now.network

Valinnainen

Keep a backup off-box

Redundancy inside the box does not survive fire, theft or a whole-array fault.Toimenpide: Mirror the important data to an external drive, a second box, or cloud.storage

Tulevaisuus

RAM expansion available

1 RAM slot(s) free for a later upgrade.Toimenpide: Leave them free until the workload actually grows.memory

Tulevaisuus

Drive bays remain

1 drive bay(s) free for future capacity.Toimenpide: Expand capacity in pairs (mirror/parity) when needed.storage

Mikä muuttuu rajaksi

1G networking becomes the ceiling is the most likely thing to date this build within 3-5y.

3-5y

1G networking becomes the ceiling

Miksi: A 1000 Mbps link will cap NAS transfers and multi-user media before the CPU or disks do.Mitä tehdä: Factor a NIC into the next hardware purchase.
