Warum diese Variante
Wähle sie, wenn
Balances your priorities with a 663€ price tag and a 9W idle draw.
Was sie opfert
- Not specialized: it does not push any single dimension (value, silence, expansion) to the extreme.
Wie die Teile gewählt wurden
- GEEKOM A5 — AMD Ryzen 5 7430U: 12 threads, 16GB RAM, 7W idle — a complete, efficient prebuilt for this workload.
- Turnkey: no assembly, smaller footprint, lower energy than a custom build.
Warum nicht die anderen
- Smart build — best all-round beats "Build yourself — for comparison" on performance +8, efficiency +21, expandability -6, silence +17, longevity +10 — that is why it is recommended for your priorities.

Zukunftssicherheits-Score
Begrenzte Zukunftssicherheit42/100
Limited future-proofing (42/100) — expect to upgrade or rebuild sooner rather than later.
Upgrade path40
Prebuilt platform — the CPU/motherboard are not swappable in the usual sense, so the upgrade path is limited to RAM/storage/PCIe.
Expansion34
Expansion headroom: 0 PCIe slot(s), 1 M.2, 1 SATA, 1 drive bay(s), 1 RAM slot(s) free.
Storage growth50
Storage is 80% utilized with 1 free drive bay(s) and 1 free SATA port(s).
Memory growth55
1 RAM slot(s) free; memory is 33% utilized.
Networking55
Networking is 1000 Mbps.
Replacement ease30
Prebuilt — proprietary parts can make replacement harder.
Workload change30
No GPU and little room to add one — demanding AI/transcoding workloads would be out of reach.
Homelab-Risiko-Score
Erhöhtes Risiko54/100
Elevated risk (54/100) — several items should be addressed before purchase.
high
Single point of failure
Storage has no redundancy (2 drives, no mirror/parity) — a single drive failure exposes the array.Lösung: Add at least a mirror (RAID 1/ZFS mirror) for irreplaceable data, or an additional parity drive for larger arrays.
medium
Storage risk
1 desktop hard drive(s) — not rated for 24/7 duty, vibration or heat; higher long-run failure risk.Lösung: For an always-on system, prefer NAS/CMR-rated drives; monitor SMART and replace before the warranty ends.
critical
Data loss risk
2 drive(s), no redundancy, hard-drive media — the worst combination for keeping data safe.Lösung: Add redundancy and an off-site/off-box backup for anything irreplaceable.
critical
Power risk
No PSU detected in the configuration.Lösung: Add a PSU sized at ~1.5x the peak load for efficiency headroom.
medium
Network risk
Single 1000 Mbps NIC — a switch/port failure takes the box fully offline, and multi-user media can saturate 1000 Mbps.Lösung: Consider a second NIC or a managed switch; for heavy media, plan for 2.5/10G before the build.
low
Expansion risk
0 PCIe, 1 M.2, 1 SATA, 1 bays free.Lösung: Healthy room for future drives, NICs and accelerators.
low
Upgrade risk
Prebuilt platform — the next CPU generation will almost certainly require a new system.Lösung: Buy for the workload, not the socket — upgrade paths are a bonus, not a guarantee.

Kritisch
No storage redundancy
2 drive(s) with no mirror or parity for the data you plan to store.Aktion: Add at least a mirror for irreplaceable data before you migrate anything.storage
Optimierung
Use NAS-rated drives
Desktop drives in an always-on NAS/server role have higher long-run failure rates.Aktion: Prefer NAS/CMR-rated drives for 24/7 duty.storage
Optimierung
Plan faster networking
1G networking is fine today but will bottleneck multi-user media or big NAS transfers at 6TB.Aktion: Budget for a 2.5G/10G NIC and switch later, or spec it now.network
Optional
Add a UPS
An always-on server holding data should survive power blips.Aktion: Add a line-interactive UPS sized for the build's peak draw (≥ 10 min at typical load for a clean shutdown).power
Optional
Keep a backup off-box
Redundancy inside the box does not survive fire, theft or a whole-array fault.Aktion: Mirror the important data to an external drive, a second box, or cloud.storage
Zukunft
RAM expansion available
1 RAM slot(s) free for a later upgrade.Aktion: Leave them free until the workload actually grows.memory
Zukunft
Drive bays remain
1 drive bay(s) free for future capacity.Aktion: Expand capacity in pairs (mirror/parity) when needed.storage
Was zum Limit wird
Storage nearly full is the most likely thing to date this build within 1-2y.
1-2y
Storage nearly full
Warum: 80% of raw capacity is already in use — media libraries and backups grow fast. Was zu tun ist: Expanding is easy: add a drive to the free bays/ports.
3-5y
1G networking becomes the ceiling
Warum: A 1000 Mbps link will cap NAS transfers and multi-user media before the CPU or disks do.Was zu tun ist: Factor a NIC into the next hardware purchase.
Was dich zuerst begrenzt
Storage is the closest to its limit (80% of capacity in use) — it will likely force the next upgrade.
